How to Enroll in RDR Without ARNs

Alternatives for connecting to RDR if you don’t have ARNs or have fewer than 4.

1. Make Your Own ARNs

  1. Charge the your own Visa card four times for $1 (same card for all charges okay).
  2. Wait for your processor to generate ARNs.
    1. This can appear in the dashboard after the refund / settlement posts.

A. Notes & Cautions

  • For some processors the reference shown for refunds may appear as an ARN, STAN, or RRN. Check the refund details in your processor dashboard.
    • RDR enrollment requires ARNs.
    • STANs or other short trace numbers won’t substitute for an ARN.
    • If you see only a STAN, contact your processor or our support.
  • ARN generation timing varies. Some processors show ARNs immediately. Others show them after refund processing (24 – 72 hours in some cases).
    • If you don’t see ARNs within a few days, check with your processor.
  • You can issue the transactions in any currency.
  • For Stripe, do not refund the transactions straight away (wait 1 hour). Otherwise, they will be reversed and not refunded.
    • ARNs won't appear for reversed transactions since the original charge is not processed.

⚠️ Shopify stores based in France will not show ARNs in the merchant UI.

If you don’t see ARNs for transactions processed through Shopify, contact Shopify support and ask them to provide the ARN for those refunds.

B. Terms used for "ARNs" on Different Platforms

Some processors list ARNs under different field names. Search your dashboard for these terms:

Processor

Alternative Name for ARN

Stripe / Shopify

 ARN (Acquirer Reference Number)

Oceanpayment

Query Numbers

Authorize.net

Reference Number

2. Use BIN & CAID Instead of ARNs

If you don’t have four ARNs, you can still enroll in RDR with your BIN(s) and CAID (B&C).

Requirements:

  • BIN: 6 digits, not the Merchant ID (MID).
  • CAID: 15 digits, alphanumeric (letters + numbers).

Double-check the length and format before sending B&C to Chargeback.io, so invalid numbers don’t bounce back from Verifi.

⚠️ Important: We can’t accept BINs or CAIDs that don’t meet these requirements.

If your processor gives you invalid values, let them know Verifi will reject them and specify which requirement isn’t met.

1. How to Request BIN(s) & CAID

Ask your payment processor for these numbers. You can copy and paste this message:

Hi, can you please provide my Visa BIN and CAID for this account? I need them for Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) enrollment.

If your processor says they can’t provide them, ask to escalate the request to a specialist. Specialists usually know how to retrieve this information.

2. Next Steps

  1. Once you have your BIN and CAID, contact Chargeback support.
  2. Provide the numbers to the agent.
  3. The agent will forward your details to Verifi, who manages the RDR enrollment.
  4. If your descriptor status in RDR shows “In Progress,” no further action is required.
  5. If enrollment takes longer than 14 business days, reach out to our support team.

Timing: Enrollment normally takes 3 business days, but may take up to 14 business days if Verifi has a backlog. We cannot speed up this process.

What Are BINs & CAID?

  • BIN (bank identification number): Identifies the bank.
  • CAID (card account identifier): Identifies the source of the transaction.
