How to Enroll in RDR Without ARNs
Learn what alternatives you have to connect to RDR if you don't have any ARNs or fewer than 4 ARNs.
If you’re asking “what do I do if I don’t have ARNs,” when trying to enroll under RDR, you’ll have a couple options, which we’ll go through in this guide.
Let’s proceed.
1. Make Your Own ARNs
Make four $1 transactions using your own Visa card (same card for all transactions is okay). After 3-4 days, your processor will make ARNs for each transaction.
⚠️ For Stripe, ensure not to refund the transactions straight away (wait 1 hour). Otherwise, they will be reversed and not refunded.
You can issue the transactions in any currency — I only mentioned USD here for clarity.
Keep in mind: ARNs may appear under different names depending on your payment processor. For example:
Processor |
Alternative Name for ARN |
Stripe/Shopify |
ARN (Acquirer Reference Number) |
Oceanpayment |
Query Numbers |
Authorize.net |
Reference Number |
If you’re using one of these processors, search for the alternative term listed.
Some processors may display a System Trace Audit Number (STAN) instead. We can’t accept these, as Verifi requires ARNs specifically.
⚠️ Shopify will not generate ARNs on Shopify stores based in France. In these cases, contact Shopify directly and ask them to provide the ARNs.
1. Ask for your BINs & CAID (B&C)
Requirements:
- BINs:
- 6-digits long
- Not Merchant ID (MID)
- CAID:
- 15-digits long
- Alphanumeric: Combination of letters and numbers
⚠️ We can’t accept BINs or CAIDs that don’t meet the criteria above. If your payment processor provides a BIN or CAID that doesn’t qualify, let them know Verifi will reject it and clarify which requirement isn’t being met.
If you don’t have 4 ARNs, you can still sign up for RDR using your BIN and CAID (referred to as B&C) instead. Reach out to your payment processor and ask for these numbers.
To make things easier, send your payment processor this message:
Hey, can you please give me my Visa BIN and CAID for this account? I need it for my Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) chargeback alert enrollment.
If your payment processor says they can’t provide the BIN and CAID, ask to escalate the request to a “specialist.” They’ll have the knowledge needed to handle your case.
Once you’ve received your B&C, contact Chargeback’s customer support and provide the agent with your BIN and CAID.
Once you’ve given your B&C to Chargeback, the agent will forward the information to Verifi, who’ll handle the RDR enrollment from there. Enrollment usually takes 3 business days, or up to 14 business days if Verifi has a backlog.
We cannot speed up this process.
ℹ️ What are BINs and CAID?
- BIN (bank identification number): Identifies the bank.
- CAID (card account identifier): Identifies the source of the transaction.
