Oceanpayment: Descriptor & ARN Guide

Learn how to locate your billing descriptor and Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) in Oceanpayment.

⚠️ Chargeback.io does not have an integration for Oceanpayment. You cannot automatically refund Ethoca or CDRN alerts.

If you use Oceanpayment, connect through Manual Integration.

 

How to Find Your Descriptor & ARNs in Oceanpayment

1. Finding Your Oceanpayment Billing Descriptor

  1. Log in to your Oceanpayment Dashboard.
  2. In the sidebar under Information Center, click Transaction to expand the dropdown.
  3. Select General Query.
  4. Select any transaction and open the details.
  5. Under the Transaction Info. tab, find the Billing Descriptor row.

2. Important: RDR Requires a Hong Kong Account

Before searching for ARNs, check your Oceanpayment account type.

Only Hong Kong accounts (created under the Hong Kong Credit Card Channel) can use RDR (Rapid Dispute Resolution). EU gateway accounts can't.

Oceanpayment does not issue ARNs outside Hong Kong. To use RDR, you must apply for a new Hong Kong account through Oceanpayment.

Chargeback.io cannot change this restriction. You must contact Oceanpayment directly to request a Hong Kong account.

⚠️ Oceanpayment support will not provide BINs and CAID under any circumstance.

3. Finding Your Oceanpayment ARNs

In the Administration Center, open the dropdown menu and select Refund History.

  1. In the sidebar under Administration Center, click Refund to expand the dropdown.
  2. Select Refund History.
  3. Find the Query No. column. Query numbers act as your ARN in Oceanpayment.

⚠️ Important Notes
  • Orders that became chargebacks do not display ARNs.
  • Each ARN must:
    • Be 23 digits long
    • Start with a 2 or 7
    • Come from a Visa transaction
  • You need 4 ARNs to complete setup in Chargeback.io.
  • You don't need to submit more than 4 ARNs. This won't speed up enrollment.
 

 

How to Add Descriptor(s) & ARNs

Here's how and where to add your descriptor(s) and ARNs:

  1. In the sidebar, click Alerts to expand the dropdown.
  2. Select Configure.
  3. Click + Enroll More Descriptors.
  4. Click Continue on the Integration page.
  5. Enter your billing descriptor(s) in the field labeled Billing Descriptor.
    1. If you have more than one, separate them with commas.
  6. During the RDR enrollment process, enter 4 Visa ARNs, separating each with commas.

Activation Times

  • CDRN and Ethoca activation: ~12 hours.
  • RDR activation: ~7+ business days.
