Managing Provider Transfers for Chargeback.io

Guide to moving your chargeback alerts service to or from Chargeback.io.

1. Transferring to Chargeback.io from Another Provider

Method 1: Unenroll From Your Previous Provider

The simplest option is to ask your current provider to unenroll and release your BINs, CAID, and billing descriptor.

However, this approach has several drawbacks:

  • Coverage may lapse for a week or more.
  • CDRN could be placed under a cooling period, preventing transfer.
  • Your billing descriptor may not be released correctly, leading to repeated back-and-forth over several days.

The second method avoids many of these issues.

⚠️ Pay all outstanding invoices and bills before requesting unenrollment. Unresolved balances block the transfer.

Method 2: Transfer

Step 1: Create an Account With Chargeback.io

Sign up and complete onboarding. For detailed instructions, see our onboarding guide.

⚠️ Once your account is created, you do not need to contact Chargeback.io support to start the transfer.

Step 2: Reach Out to Your Current Provider

Ask your provider’s support team to transfer your Ethoca and Verifi coverage using this template:

Please transfer our Ethoca and Verifi coverage to Chargeback.io no later than [DATE].

When contacting Ethoca, request that my descriptor is reassigned to Chargeback Solutions FZCO.

When you complete the Verifi enrollment form and send it to Verifi, please CC support@chargeback.io and knowledge.walker@verifi.com. Thank you.

Important:

  • Replace [DATE] with your chosen deadline.
  • Use a date at least 7 – 10 days in the future to give providers processing time.
  • Provide your current provider with this Verifi enrollment form (link to form).
  • If you want to do a partial transfer (some descriptor(s), not all), adjust the script to include the specific descriptor(s).
  • Before transfers fully go through, you may receive charges from your previous provider on alerts.
Step 3: Follow Up With Your Previous Provider

If your provider doesn’t confirm that the transfer request is in progress, follow up. Ask whether they submitted the request to Verifi and Ethoca.

⚠️ Transfers may take longer if initiated close to a weekend, since Verifi and Ethoca do not process transfers during weekends.

Step 4: Wait

Transfers typically take a few business days. As four parties coordinate to complete the process.

Once finalized:

  • Your descriptor(s) in the Chargeback.io dashboard will have the Active status.
  • You will receive automated email confirmation.
  • You will receive your first Ethoca and CDRN alerts within 2 business days; RDR alerts within 2 to 7 business days.

2. Transferring from Chargeback.io to Another Provider

Important considerations:

  • Outstanding invoices: Pay all invoices before requesting the transfer. Unpaid balances prevent release of BINs, CAID, and billing descriptors.
  • Partial transfers: If you only want to transfer specific descriptors or BINs while keeping others with Chargeback.io, note this in your request.

⚠️ Chargeback.io will process your request immediately. However, because Verifi and Ethoca manage the transfer, and your provider must cooperate, the timeline is outside of our direct control.

Step 1: Create an Account With Your New Provider

Sign up with your new provider and complete any required onboarding steps.

Step 2: Request a Verifi Transfer Form

Ask your new provider for the Verifi transfer form. This is required for moving coverage.

Step 3: Contact Chargeback.io Support

Send the following request to Chargeback.io support:

Hello,
Please transfer me to [PROVIDER NAME]. Attached is the Verifi transfer form.

⚠️ Ensure you attach the form provided by your new provider.

Step 4: Confirmation

Chargeback.io will confirm once the transfer process has started. After confirmation, no further action is required from you.
