As of January 2026, Shopify's analytics now bundle cases resolved by Rapid Dispute Resolution with your chargeback rate, making your chargeback rate appear higher than it actually is.
The Rapid Dispute Resolution perceived chargeback rate is solely for reporting and will not contribute to the chargeback rate that leads to consequences like:
Account freezes, shutdowns, restrictions, reserves.
Placement in payment processor dispute monitoring programs.
Lead to an increase in payment processor fees.
Placement in databases that can get you rejected from future payment processors.
Shopify has confirmed that this data point, specifically for RDR, are excluded from your risk score since they're proactive resolutions and are not 'strikes' against your account.
