Ethoca and CDRN may sometimes trigger on the same dispute, potentially leading to duplicate charges. Rest assured, we will issue a refund for any duplicate charge.
RDR alerts will not deliver duplicate alerts because the alert happens in a different stage of the dispute process. Visa will send TC15 messages to the acquirer (business bank) on behalf of the issuer (customer’s bank).
CDRN and Ethoca are between the merchant and issuer.
Ethoca & CDRN
Ethoca alerts mostly cover MasterCard transactions. They do have some coverage for American Express, Discover, and Visa transactions.
CDRN alerts do not have much coverage for MasterCard but offer great coverage for Visa transactions based in the United States.
CDRN and Ethoca alerts require you to connect a payment processor to your account to use auto-refund. Otherwise, you must manually refund transactions triggered within these alerts.
RDR
Enable RDR (Rapid Dispute Resolution) if you accept Visa cards globally. However, RDR only covers chargebacks related to Visa cards.
RDR will automatically refund transactions. It does not matter whether you enable or disable auto-refund. Thus, manual refunds are not possible with RDR.
What you will pay per chargeback depends on your merchant category code (MCC). This is a 4-digit number that describes what type of goods your business offers.
Here is a table outlining all of the fees:
The higher the risk of goods you offer, the more you will pay per alert.
