Overview

ℹ️ Ethoca and CDRN do not share how much additional coverage you’ll receive for American Express or Discover.

They also don’t notify us when your SE numbers are enrolled.

To expand your coverage for American Express (AmEx) and Discover chargeback alerts, gather the following information:

  • AmEx SE (Service Establishment) number

  • Discover SE number

  • Registered AmEx descriptor

  • All historical billing descriptors

  • BIN & CAID for your account

  • AmEx MID & account

To be enrolled in American Express alerts, you must have processed at least a single successful American Express transaction on your payment processor within the last 90 days.

Once You Have the Required Information

Once you’ve collected all of the above information, send it to our Support team.

How Find Get SE Numbers

These methods will help you find different ways of obtaining your SE Numbers.

Method 1. Payment Processor Outreach

Reach out to your payment processor with the following message:

I'm enrolling for AMEX and Discover Ethoca Alerts and RDR Alerts through my third-party vendor, Chargeback.io. To complete this process, I need my AMEX SE number, registered AMEX descriptor, and Discover SE number.

Additionally, I need a full list of my historical billing descriptors and BIN/CAIDs. Could you please provide this information as soon as possible? Let me know if you need anything else from me. I appreciate your help!

⚠️ We have noticed that Stripe only provided 11-digit SE numbers for AmEx. The number must be 10 digits. In this scenario, you'll need to reach out to American Express and ask them for a 10-digit SE number.

If Stripe Support Doesn’t Send Everything

If Stripe doesn't send you all of the requested details:

  • Open another support ticket and ask again.

  • Contact AmEx: Stripe may say you must contact AmEx to get your SE10.

  • Reach out to your account manager if available.

We can also assist you in getting this information from Stripe or other processors.

Method 2. Check Your VAR Sheet

When creating a merchant account, your processor sent you a VAR sheet, which has important details about your business, possibly including your SE number.

If you don't have your VAR sheet, you will need to reach out to your payment provider. In this case, you may be better off following Method 1, unless you also need your acquirer BIN and CAID.

Method 3. Check OptBlue

If you use American Express' OptBlue, check your account there for an SE Number.
