Connect Chargebee to Chargeback.io

Connect your Chargeback.io account to Chargebee.

Written by Theodore

This article explains how to connect your Chargebee account to Chargeback.io so we can automatically refund eligible CDRN and Ethoca alerts. It also covers how to find your Chargebee credentials and how to disconnect Chargebee.

This article is specific to Chargebee. It does not explain how to set auto-refund thresholds or how to connect other payment processors. For those, see the linked guides.

How to Connect Chargebee to Chargeback.io

Follow these steps to connect Chargebee to Chargeback.io:

  1. In the sidebar, click Integrations.

  2. Find Chargebee.

  3. Click Connect.

  4. When prompted, enter your Site Key and Site Value from Chargebee.

The connection completes instantly in most cases.

If needed, set an auto-refund threshold to limit automatic refunds. See the auto-refund guide for more information.

How to Find Your Site Key and Site Value

This section walks you through finding your Site Key and Site Value in Chargebee.

Part 1: Navigate to API Key Configuration

  1. Log in to your Chargebee account.

  2. In the left menu, open the Settings dropdown.

  3. Click Configure Chargebee.

Part 2: Create an API Key

  1. Scroll to the API Keys and Webhooks section.

  2. Click API Keys, then Add API Key.

  3. On the pop-up, choose Full-Access Key (Chargeback.io requires full access).

  4. In the next step, select All, name your API key, and click Create Key.

  5. Click the copy icon next to the key you created. This is your Site Key.

Part 3: Copy Your Site Value

From your browser's URL, copy the text before .chargebee.com/, not including "https://". This is your Site Value.

Example: from https://chb-2-test.chargebee.com/, your Site Value is chb-2-test.

How to Disconnect Chargebee from Chargeback.io

  1. In the left sidebar, click Integrations.

  2. Find Chargebee in the list.

  3. Click Disconnect.

The disconnection is immediate. After disconnecting, automatic refunds for CDRN and Ethoca alerts stop.

Disconnecting Chargebee does not stop alerts. To stop receiving alerts, fill out the unenrollment form.

Troubleshooting

The connection spins and returns to the connect screen

This usually means the connection didn't complete. Chargebee connections normally finish almost instantly, so a long spin that returns to the connect screen points to a credential issue.

Fix: Confirm you pasted your full-access API key (not the key's name or ID), confirm the key has full access in Chargebee, and double-check your site name is correct. If it still won't connect, take a screenshot of the screen after the spin and contact support.

Your alerts are going to Attention instead of being auto-refunded

If Chargebee was connected before but alerts have started landing in the Attention status, Chargeback.io has likely lost API access to Chargebee, often because the API key was changed or removed.

Fix: Check whether your Chargebee API key was recently changed or revoked, then reconnect Chargebee in your dashboard to restore access.
