Read First: Chargeback.io vs. Joinchargeback.com

⚠️ Many people mistake us for Joinchargeback.com due to similar branding, but we are not the same company.

1. Chargeback.io

  • A service for businesses.

  • Provides pre-dispute alerts (Ethoca and Verifi).

  • Registered and operating from the United Arab Emirates.

  • Works with merchants to prevent chargebacks.

  • Does not offer consumer subscription cancellation services.

2. Joinchargeback.com

  • Offers subscription management / cancellation services to consumers.

  • Charges customers directly (commonly $144), usually shown as a charge from New York.

  • Your bank statement will show "Subscription cancellation" as the store it's from.

  • Not affiliated with Chargeback.io.

  • Uses a different logo.

This is Join Chargeback's logo:

⚠️ If you see a charge from New York on your statement, it came from Joinchargeback.com, not from Chargeback.io.

If you want to cancel with Joinchargeback.com, you must contact their support directly. We cannot cancel, refund, or access charges made by them.

How to Cancel Your Chargeback.io Account

“Canceling” or “closing” your Chargeback.io account means your billing descriptor(s) will be unenrolled from alert network(s) and will stop receiving chargeback alerts.

1. How to Cancel (Self-Service)

To cancel your Chargeback.io account, you'll need to fully unenroll all billing descriptors from every alerts network. Being fully unenrolled from all networks means that all billing descriptors in your Chargeback.io dashboard have the Unenrolled status.

Follow these steps to cancel your Chargeback.io account:

  1. After filling out the form, your descriptor(s) will have the status Pending Unenroll. This status means that your descriptor isn't fully unenrolled, which means you may still receive alerts.

  2. Once you're fully unenrolled, reach out to our support and let them know whether you received alerts during the unenrollment process.

    1. Also request that your balance is refunded and for the Verifi and Ethoca Case IDs of your unenrollments.

Once you follow these steps, our support team will address the charges on your account that happened during the unenrollment process. We'll also provide your Case IDs in case you decide to enroll with a different alerts provider.

When enrolling with a new provider, make sure you provide the Case IDs for smoother onboarding.

When Will I Know When I'm Fully Unenrolled?

Here are different ways to know when you're unenrolled:

  • If you have a ticket open with Chargeback.io Support, we'll let you know.

  • You'll receive automated emails notifying you when descriptor(s) are unenrolled.

  • Check your Chargeback.io account dashboard.

To check your Chargeback.io dashboard, navigate to Alerts on the sidebar, then click Configure on the dropdown menu. Here, you'll see all of your descriptors. All descriptors should have the Unenrolled status for your account to be 'cancelled'.

2. How to Cancel (With Human Help)

If you prefer, someone in our support team can do this manually cancel your account. Just open up the chatbot and say you'd like someone to help you cancel your Chargeback.io account. Also mention what account you'd like to cancel and specific descriptors you want to unenroll if only partially unenrolling.

If you plan on using another chargeback alerts provider, make sure to ask our support team for the Ethoca and Verifi Case IDs once we confirm you're unenrolled, or once you receive an automated email notifying you of your final billing descriptor being unenrolled.

3. How the Cancellation and Unenrollment Process Goes

  1. We process unenrollment requests within 12 hours.

  2. After we send the request to Verifi and Ethoca, they complete the actual unenrollment.

  3. The unenrollment process can last around 7 business days, and billing may continue for up to 2 weeks after your request due to chargeback alerts received during that time.

  4. If the unenrollment process takes longer, reach out to our support and we'll escalate with Verifi and Ethoca.

⚠️ If your account shows Inactive, your descriptors must also have the status Unenrolled to be fully removed from our system.

Alternative Options

  • Transfer to another provider: Transfers are often faster than canceling. See Transferring from Chargeback.io to Another Provider.

  • Disconnecting Shopify integration / app:

    • If you disconnect your Shopify integration, we’ll unenroll your account after 48 hours and email you a confirmation.

    • Check your inbox to ensure you don’t miss this email.

Important Notes

  • Always use the words “unenroll,” “disenroll,” or “cancel” when speaking with support to avoid confusion and speed up processing.

  • If you want to delete your entire account and associated data, refer to our Privacy Policy for instructions.

  • Filling out the unenrollment form is the quickest method to cancel, relying on support tickets may cause unnecessary back-and-forth.

  • We will push Verifi and Ethoca to complete the unenrollment as quickly as possible, but final timing is outside our control.
