Grant Chargeback.io access to the correct payment processor account, then resubmit your access request.
If you see this banner on the Credits page, the invitation gives Chargeback.io access to a different processor account from the one needed for the affected business account:
We couldn’t verify access to [processor]: invite is for the wrong account. Fix the issue and resubmit your request.
This article is for users with the Owner or Administrator role in Chargeback.io. It covers correcting the account an invitation grants access to, not moving an integration between business accounts, fixing a login problem, or resolving a rejected individual credit request.
Before you start
Identify the specific payment processor account connected to the affected business account in Chargeback.io. If you manage several accounts or stores with the same processor, check the account or store name and, where available, its account ID.
An invitation to another account with the same payment processor does not provide access to the account that needs verification.
You also need permission to invite users or manage teams in the correct processor account. Your role in Chargeback.io does not automatically give you those permissions. Ask the person who manages that processor account to help if necessary.
If you cannot identify which processor account is connected to the affected business account, contact Support before sending another invitation.
Open the access setup in Chargeback.io
In the Chargeback.io dashboard, open Credits for the affected business account.
Click Restore payment account.
If there are multiple processor tabs, open the tab for the processor named in the banner.
Follow the relevant processor instructions below. Send the invitation from the correct payment processor account, then return to Chargeback.io to resubmit your access request.
If you use Stripe
If the Stripe tab shows Access already available, the connected integration already provides the transaction access required for Credit automation. You do not need to create a team or send an invitation for that integration.
If the banner names another processor, correct access for that processor instead.
Resubmit your access request
After granting access to the correct account:
Return to the Credit automation setup in Chargeback.io.
In the affected processor’s tab, select the checkbox under Confirm invitation after completing the required access setup.
Complete any remaining required confirmations shown in the pop-up. If there are multiple tabs, use Next to reach the final tab.
Click Submit request.
Submit request remains disabled until all required confirmations in the setup are complete.
Sending the correct invitation does not resubmit your access request. You must also return to Chargeback.io, complete the confirmation, and click Submit request.
What happens after you resubmit?
The Credits page shows a Pending banner while Chargeback.io checks your payment processor access. This usually takes one business day.
Do not submit another request while the check is pending unless Chargeback.io asks you to update it. We will email you when Credit automation becomes active or another change is needed.
Once the required access is verified for all connected processors, Credit automation becomes active for the business account. Chargeback.io then handles system credit requests without asking you to upload proof.
Manual credit requests are not automated. Credit automation also does not search for alerts or create missing system credit requests.
Will credit-request emails continue?
Automatic Credit Request emails remain enabled when verification fails because the invitation is for the wrong account. Follow the instructions in any credit-request emails you receive.
Once Credit automation becomes active for the business account, credit emails stop. This does not turn off other Chargeback.io notifications, including updates about Credit automation.
Still seeing “Invite is for the wrong account”?
Check which account the invitation actually grants access to, not just the account you are currently signed in to. Confirm that it is the processor account connected to the affected business account in Chargeback.io.
Also check that you returned to Chargeback.io and clicked Submit request after correcting access.
If verification fails again, contact Support with the affected Chargeback.io business account, payment processor, and verification reason. Explain which processor account you invited Chargeback to.
If the banner shows a different verification reason, follow the instructions for that reason before resubmitting.
Do not move or reconnect an integration solely to correct an invitation sent from the wrong account. Correct the access granted in the processor account that is already connected.
