Credit automation is pending: what happens next

What to do if Credit automation is pending.

Written by Theodore

Chargeback.io is reviewing your payment processor access. This usually takes one business day.

After you submit a Credit automation access request, the Credits page shows this banner:

Credit automation is pending while we verify your payment processor access. This usually takes one business day.

The automation button displays Automation Processing.

This article is for users with the Owner or Administrator role in Chargeback.io who have submitted an access request, either during initial setup or for a newly connected integration.

Pending refers to your Credit automation access request, not the status of an individual credit request.

What does Pending mean?

Chargeback.io has received your access request and is checking that the access you granted allows us to find the required transactions in the correct payment processor account.

Pending is a verification step, not an error. You do not need to correct permissions or send another invitation simply because the request is Pending.

Submitting an access request does not immediately activate Credit automation for an integration awaiting verification.

What should you do while the request is Pending?

Wait for the verification result. We will email you when Credit automation becomes active or a change is needed.

Do not submit another access request while verification is pending unless Chargeback.io asks you to update it.

To check the current state, open Credits for the business account associated with your request and review the banner. While the check is in progress, the banner remains Pending and the button displays Automation Processing.

If you submitted a request for a new integration

Wait for Chargeback.io to verify access to that integration. Do not repeat invitations or resubmit access requests for integrations already included in an earlier request.

Do not assume the newly connected integration is covered by Credit automation until its access is verified.

What happens after verification?

1. If the required access is verified

Once the required access is verified for all connected processors, the Credits page shows:

Credit automation is active. New requests will be approved automatically.

The button changes to Automation Active.

Chargeback.io then handles system credit requests without asking you to upload proof. Manual credit requests are not automated.

2. If access cannot be verified

The Credits page shows “We couldn’t verify access to [Payment processor name] Payments”, followed by the reason and instructions to correct it.

For example:

Reason shown

What needs to be corrected

No invite received

Chargeback.io has not received the required payment processor invitation.

Limited permissions

The access granted to Chargeback.io does not include the required permissions.

Invite is for the wrong account

The invitation grants access to a different processor account from the one needed.

A new integration was connected

Submit access request for a newly connected integration.

Click Restore payment account, follow the troubleshooting instructions for the exact reason shown, and correct the issue in the affected processor account. Then return to Chargeback.io, complete the required confirmation, and click Submit request.

Changing access in your payment processor does not automatically resubmit the request in Chargeback.io.

What should you do about credit-request emails?

If you receive an Automatic Credit Request email while verification is pending, follow the instructions in that email.

Do not disregard a request for proof solely because you have submitted a Credit automation access request. Pending does not confirm that the integration under review is covered by Credit automation.

Once you submit a request to activate Credit automation, emails related to credit requests will stop. Other Chargeback.io notifications, including updates about Credit automation, are not turned off.

What if the request is still Pending after one business day?

Verification usually takes one business day. A request that is still Pending has not been marked as failed.

If you need an update after the usual review period, contact Chargeback.io Support and provide:

  • The Chargeback.io business account associated with the request.

  • The payment processor and specific account or integration awaiting verification.

  • The date you submitted the access request.

Keep the existing request in place. Do not submit a duplicate request unless Support asks you to.
