How to Connect Braintree to Chargeback.io

Follow these steps to connect Chargeback.io to Braintree:

  1. In the left sidebar, click Integrations.

  2. Find Braintree.

  3. Click Connect.

  4. When prompted, enter the following Braintree API details:

    • Api_merchant_id (Merchant ID)

    • Api_public_key (Public Key)

    • Api_private_key (Private Key)

Connection completes instantly in most cases.

If needed, set an auto-refund threshold to limit automatic refunds. See the Automatic Refund Guide for more information.

How to Find Your Public Key, Private Key, & Merchant ID

This section walks you through finding your Public Key, Private Key, and Merchant ID in Braintree.

Part 1: Navigate to the API Keys Page

  1. Log in to your Braintree account.

  2. Click the gear icon (⚙️) in the upper-right corner.

  3. From the dropdown, select API.

  4. Scroll to the API Keys section.

  5. Click + Generate New API Key.

Part 2: Copy Required Values

  1. Click View under the Private Key column.

  2. On the Client Library Key page, copy the following values:

    • Public Key

    • Private Key

    • Merchant ID

  3. Return to Chargeback.io and paste each value into the matching fields.

How Do I Disconnect Braintree from Chargeback.io?

  1. In the left sidebar, click Integrations.

  2. Find Braintree in the list.

  3. Click Disconnect.

The disconnection is immediate. After disconnecting, automatic refunds for CDRN and Ethoca alerts will stop.

Disconnecting Braintree does not stop alerts. To stop receiving alerts, fill out this unenrollment form.

FAQs

Can I Have More Than One Braintree Connection?

Each business account can only have one Braintree connection at a time.
If you need to connect another Braintree account, create a sub-business account.

Use clear naming to differentiate them, for example:
​Business Name – Braintree

You can follow this guide to create additional business or sub-accounts.

Does Chargeback.io Support PayPal?

Chargeback.io does not currently integrate with PayPal. Connecting Braintree does not prevent or manage PayPal chargebacks.
